The success of any storage installation will be dependent on the compatibility of the interface between the storage equipment and the vehicles handling the loads to be stored and retrieved.
Careful consideration must be given to balancing the volume storage requirements against the quantity of goods, critical factors which will influence the specification of both the storage racking and the types of handling equipment.
When planning pallet racking it is a good idea to choose a company that makes reference to S.E.M.A ? The UK Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association.
There are a large number of types of handling equipment to aid your needs. You can choose from…
These combine the function or a pallet transporter and a forklift truck as they provide a high degree of versatility and mobility. They are ideal for various load moving tasks and shorter journeys.
These are very robust, battery, petrol, diesel or gas powered trucks which carry their load at the front of the vehicle. They are great as they can meet a large range of handling tasks/
Over the past few years, reach trucks have replaced the traditional counter balance trucks for many internal pallet racking applications. These are designed so that the load is retracted in the wheel base which dramatically reduces the overall length and turning circle of the vehicle allowing the truck to operate in narrower aisles.
These are designed to operate in aisles with very narrow widths. They are not designed to turn as the load is move in or out of the racking sideways. This allows for the aisles to be smaller. Therefore you use more racking in the warehouse and really maximise your space.
There are still more options in which you can choose from! Reading this you can see that there are a large number of different solutions to suit the racking you choose. They are designed to make your job easier ? who wouldn?t want that!
