When you are working out how best to organise your warehouse, there is no doubt that there are many things that you need to think about. One consideration that you may wish to bear in mind is the type of pallet racking that you would like to opt for. There is no exact answer when it comes to which type would be the best for you, and it very much depends on how much space you have, how much you want to spend, and the access you need, amongst other things. To help you decide on the ideal pallet racking system for you, we have put together a list of types that you have to choose from.
If you are just looking for a simple way to stack your pallets, then floor stacking could be the perfect option for your needs. With this kind of stacking, your pallets are simply placed on the floor in rows, and how deep these rows go will depend on which of the pallets you need to access. This is a great choice if you don’t have much money to play with, however if you are going to need to access individual pallets on a regular basis, this might not be the best choice for you.
This is probably the type of racking that the most people choose, and this is because of the fact that it is so simple. This uses cross beams to make a kind of shelf, and you can stack these quite high depending on how high your bay is. This can give you the access that you need between each of your pallets, however if you have a lot to store then this might not be the best choice for you, as you need to put an aisle between each of your pallets.
This is a kind of pallet racking system that can actually let forklift trucks drive directly into the bay to access the pallet. This kind of system will be anything from 6 to 8 pallets deep which means that a lot of pallets can be stored, so this is something that is ideal for you if you have a lot of goods. The only issue with this is that not all of the pallets are accessible, and thanks to the fact that forklifts are driving through there is always a chance that the pallets themselves could get damaged, which is obviously a negative thing.
This racking type makes the most of a conveyor system to push the pallets to the front of the system. Once that pallet has been unloaded, the next one will be sent to the front of the system to then be dealt with. This is a good way of storing a lot of pallets, if you are storing many pallets full of the same product. The good thing about this is the amount of pallets that you are able to store, as you can store them around 20 pallets deep, which increases your potential for storage. However, you won’t be able to access all of the pallets, and you may find that you are not able to afford the amount of money that this investment demands.
No matter what your needs are when it comes to pallets, you should find that you can find the ideal solution for your needs. This means that it is well worth taking your time to consider the options that are available to you, as you will notice a big difference in efficiency and productivity if you make the right choice.
